This week, meet one of our Global Ambassadors from Lithuania, Egle Bridikiene! She teaches at Martynas Mažvydas progymnasium and loves how PenPal Schools helps her students develop digital citizenship.
PENPAL SCHOOLS: How long have you been using PenPal Schools and what do you love most about it?
EGLE: It is my third year with PenPal Schools. Pen Pal Schools help me to show my students the variety of the world. The topics are really interesting and well displayed. My students are excited when they get to write to the students all around the world and they are over the moon when they get the answers
How has learning with PenPals impacted your students?
My students have been introduced with Digital Citizenship, Digital Literacy, they have learned to be socially responsible. They had to plan their time to answer their pen pals and think of different things to tell them. These projects enhance students' creativity and collaboration and helps them to pay more attention to their use of English.
What is your favorite PenPal Schools project?
We loved Flags of the World, especially the part of creating our own flags. Later all the flags were displayed on Padlet and were voted for. Very exciting!
What other ways do you connect your students with the world?
We use facebook, sometimes skype.
What advice do you have for teachers that are new to PenPal Schools?
Do not be afraid to ask if you have questions. Plan your lessons in advance. Introduce your students to the site at least a week before the start of the project.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
This year's dream is to visit Portugal. After that I would love to visit California and Wyoming, as my friends live there.
You can get in touch with Egle in our global teacher forums, Facebook group for PenPal Schools Global Educators, or via email at email@example.com. Thanks, Egle for being a great Global Ambassador!
