PenPal Schools is excited to announce two brand new topics created in partnership with Oxford University Press: Homes Around the World and Transportation Then & Now. Each year, teachers around the world use materials from Oxford University Press to support their students. Through an exciting partnership with PenPal Schools, you can now invite your students to read and discuss articles from Oxford University Press with PenPals on PenPal Schools! In Homes Around the World students connect with PenPals to learn about and compare the many different types of places that people call home. From apartment buildings, to single family homes, to a tent in a refugee camp, students learn about homes from the past, homes today, and even image what homes might look like in the future!! In Transportation Then & Now, students connect with PenPals to learn about and compare the different ways that people get around! While discussing planes, trains, cars and bicycles, students and their PenPals examine the different factors that influence transportation like distance, fuel economy, and freight. Students are even invited to explore how historic forms of transportation compare with the present.
Whether you are introducing global education to your students, looking for a new way to frame global comparisons, or hoping to engage students in reading and writing practice as a break from Spring exams, these two new PenPal topics are sure to excite and engage your students!
