Young people around the world have been speaking up for climate change (or climate crisis, depending on the language used in your part of the world!). On PenPal Schools, students discuss the changing environment and examine factors influencing the environment around the world. Meet PenPal Star Addison from the USA, one of the winners of our Global Earth Day Challenge!
Addison created an original project about the importance of protecting the planet. She created a video with narration using Animoto to explain why we should work together to protect planet Earth.

"Planet Earth does so much for us, by so much mean a lot!" Addison explains in her video. She discusses all of the gifts the Earth gives us, from animals to water and air. She also explains the threats facing the planet, like wildfires and pollution, and how those threats impact humans and animals. Check out Addison's video below.

Not only did Addison include a lot of great information and facts in her video, but we love the images she included to demonstrate how pollution impacts animals. Her project does a great job of reminding us that we need to take care of the planet so it is safe for humans and animals alike.

Addison learned about the changing environment from PenPals around the world, and she got to publish her video for a global audience, too! Learning with global PenPals helped give Addison a wider perspective on the impact of pollution on the environment, though Addison is lucky to have a lot of global perspectives within her own school community to learn from, too!

Addison's teacher, Ms. Danielle Butts, explained, ""Global connections provide students with opportunities to learn from and with students from diverse backgrounds. They teach students valuable communication and collaboration skills as well as provide students with opportunities to learn from peers sharing different perspectives. Our school is very lucky to have a diverse population. We have students and families from multiple countries and thirty languages are spoken by families who attend Euclid! Our students begin making global connections in their classrooms, but PenPal Schools provides them the opportunity to apply these skills in authentic ways to learn and solve real-world problems collaboratively."
